Candlelight Vigil to Support Hospice Workers and Patients
December 20, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Nurses, hospice aides, social workers, chaplains, nurse practitioners and other workers at Hospice of Southern Maine organized a union this year to improve patient safety, the quality of care, and to gain respect and a voice on the job. Currently they are negotiating their first contract with HSM management.
We are disappointed that the HSM management has chosen to respond with:
•Retaliation and intimidation of union leaders
•Delays in Bargaining
•Illegal unilateral changes to their working conditions and benefits
Unfair labor practice charges, brought by the union, are being investigated by the National Labor Relations Board for possible violations of Workers’ rights under federal law. Hospice workers are standing strong but need the support of you, the community, to hold HSM management accountable and to move forward with a fair contract that respects Patients and Hospice Workers.
