Direct Action Gets the Goods! (Portland)

April 9, 2017 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

In this era of political upheaval, social discord, and increased threats to the most marginalized populations, it has become imperative that we as a community are ready to show up and disrupt the status quo in Maine to shine the spotlight on injustices locally and globally.

Join us on Sunday, April 9 at 2:00 as we introduce the subject of direct action to get our community organized for action. This training will be hosted by a team of activists and lawyers from Boston with an introduction from members of Portland CONFRONT (Community Network for Resistance Organizing and Training).

This training will be an introductory window to basic principles of direct action involving a suite of topics ranging from the historical role of non-violent direct action, tactics, media, affinity group formation, security, and a special focus on knowing your rights and legal concerns (in general, and action-related).

Following this, Portland CONFRONT will be offering up modular trainings in the weeks and months to come building on the topics covered at this event.

Come to learn, build community, and move from ally to accomplice!
