Exploring the Gender Pay Gap with USM Women In Leadership
February 7, 2019 @ 7:00 am - 9:00 am
Join the USM alumni association’s Women In Leadership for our next breakfast! We’re so excited to have the fabulous Joan Fortin join us for an in depth conversation about a timely and important topic: The Gender Pay Gap.
As you may know, Joan is a shareholder and the Director of Attorney Recruiting at the law firm, Bernstein Shur. She was also one of MaineBiz’s 2018 Women to Watch.
In this event we’ll be digging in to the gender wage gap. As the Association of American University Women explains “No matter how you analyze it, the gender pay gap is real, persistent, and harmful to women’s economic security.” Do women need to take initiative to ensure we’re paid fairly, or should employers be stepping up to ensure equitable pay for all? Joan will share her expertise and extensive experience with us, with plenty of time left over for questions.
And, what’s a Women In Leadership event without the fun?! As usual, we’ll have food, fun, and plenty of giveaways for all. Plus, we’re hereby declaring February 7 Galentine’s Day! What better way to celebrate then by learning about and supporting women’s right to be paid fairly – while spending a fun and transformative morning with your fellow women Huskies and friends.
Your donation of any amount to benefit USM general scholarships gets you admission to this event.
