Free Workshop: How to Support Lgbtq+ Students

May 8, 2018 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Join us! Supporting Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning Students.

This training will be an informative and interactive session about how to support students who may identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer/questioning. We will discuss current statistics about LGBTQ+ students in York County, gain better understanding for supporting LGBTQ+ students, learn what laws exist to support LGBTQ+ students and what their rights are, as well as some best practices for teachers and staff to support their students. Engine strives to create spaces where students can feel safe and express themselves creatively, and we are excited to skill-share with our community partners about how we can collectively support LGBTQ+ youth in our area. The training will be led by Engine’s Bachelor of Social Work intern from the University of Southern Maine.

This FREE training will take place at Engine: 128 Main Street, Biddeford, Maine. There is no registration required. However, if you are interested in attending please let us know (by emailing aiden@feedtheengine.org) so we can get a head count!
