Healthcare Forum: the ACA and How to Improve it (Windham)

A nonpartisan event, Lake Region state legislators have been invited. Representatives from Sen. King’s, Collins’ and Rep Pingree’s office will be in the audience.
Panel presenters and their general areas of focus:
-Jane Pringle and Linda Sanborn – both family physicians and experienced Maine House legislators. Will speak to ACA successes, as well as beginning discussion of areas that need improvement.
-Gordon Smith, attorney and VP for legislative affairs, Maine Medical Association. Also represents Maine psychiatrists – will speak to mental health and the drug treatment program funding.
-Jay Els of AARP – will speak to health care and health insurance needs of those 50-64. He will also speak to Medicare funding as it has been impacted by ACA.
-Kate Brogan, attorney – Maine Family Planning, provider of health care services for low income citizens
-Ann Woloson, attorney – Health Care Policy, Equal Justice Parters – focus on Medicaid services and health care issues faced by low income Mainers, including support of seniors in assisted living, nursing homes and services for aging in place in our communities.
-Phil Caper, MD – Maine AllCare – focus on health care policy and advocate for Improved Medicare for All Maine
