Into the Streets (Portland)

February 18, 2017 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Come march in defense of our LGBTQIA+ community on February 18th at 4 PM! We’ll gather for a rally on the steps of Portland’s City Hall and then peacefully march to the Equality Community Center at 511 Congress St. I plan on acquiring the necessary permits from the Portland police, as well!

It’s time to raise our voices in opposition to the proposed executive order, “Establishing a Government-Wide Initiative to Respect Religious Freedom.” This order, if implemented as written, would overturn decades of civil rights and liberties protections, and allow individuals and organizations to discriminate against members of the LGBTQIA+ community and deny them services.

It would also allow individuals and organizations to discriminate against those seeking reproductive or contraceptive healthcare services, and allow tax-exempt entities to lobby “on moral or political issues from a religious perspective” without fear of losing their tax-exempt status.

This event is inclusive and accepting to all identities and backgrounds. We’ll be marching in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement, the indigenous movement at Standing Rock, and the Women’s March on Washington.

If you have any questions, please feel free to message me personally. Share widely!
