Intro to Direct Action and Civil Disobedience (Westbrook)

April 9 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

In this era of political upheaval, social discord, and increased threats to the most marginalized populations, it has become imperative that we as a community are ready to show up and disrupt the status quo in Maine to shine the spotlight on injustices locally and globally.

Join us on Sunday, April 9 at 2:00 as we introduce the subject of direct action and civil disobedience to get our community organized for action. This training will be hosted by activists and lawyers from Boston and members of Portland CONFRONT (Community Network for Resistance Organizing and Training).

This training will be an introductory window to basic principles of direct action and civil disobedience involving a suite of topics ranging from the historical role of non-violent direct action, tactics, media, affinity group formation, security, and a special focus on knowing your rights and legal concerns related to civil disobedience.

Come to learn, build community, and move from ally to accomplice!

Childcare will be provided upon request.
