March for Science (Machias)

MISSION of March for Science (which is taking place in 61 countries and currently has 400 different march locations): “The March for Science champions robustly funded and publicly communicated science as a pillar of human freedom and prosperity. We unite as a diverse, nonpartisan group to call for science that upholds the common good and for political leaders and policy makers to enact evidence-based
policies in the public interest.”
Machias March on April 22nd:
10:30 am – Sign Making (bring some supplies if you can) – Meeting at Science Building at university in Machias
11:00 am – March starts leaving from UMM’s Science Building down into town and then back up
Noon – Stephen Norton, Distinguished Maine Professor and Emeritus Professor School of Earth and Climate Sciences Cooperating Appointment, Climate Change Institute, is giving a talk on “Air Pollution in Maine – An Identified Problem, Individuals’ Efforts, Data, & Impacts on Policy”

Location: Starts from Science Building on the University of Maine in Machias campus. Stephen Norton’s talk will be in Science Building room 102.
