May Day Solidarity Social Fundraiser (Portland)

May 1 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

May 1st is International Workers Day. Across the U.S., tens of thousands of union and-non union workers, immigrant community members, and thousands of ordinary people will take to the streets in solidarity against Trump’s escalating ICE raids, which we have suffered right here in Maine. Join Portland activists and organizations for an evening of political solidarity, radical culture, and community building. All proceeds go to immigrant legal defense and a Know Your Rights training will be included in the program.

Speakers:
Christina Sillari, Portland First Parish UU, on the sanctuary movement
Kate Chesney, Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project, on Know Your Rights
Mohamed Awill, speaking for immigrant rights
Harlan Baker, Reading from one-man play “Jimmy Higgins”

Solidarity Greetings:
International Socialist Organization
Socialist Party of Maine
Maine Democratic Socialists of America
Jacobin Reading Group
Maine Young Democrats

Please note, the fund-raiser will begin after the 6pm May Day rally for immigrant rights at Congress Square hosted by the Maine People’s Alliance ends. We strongly encourage everyone to attend one or both events if you are able. Here’s the MPA info: https://www.facebook.com/events/1098119216959859/
