Organizing Spaces for Climate Justice (Thomaston)
February 25, 2017 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Earth in Brackets presents a discussion about International Diplomacy, Indigenous Activism, & Community Action in Maine.
Our physical and political climate is changing at an accelerating pace, posing enormous threats to communities at the local, national, and global scales. Simultaneously, diverse spaces for resistance have formed in defense of those at the front lines of climate change and injustice. To build awareness of some of the urgent struggles at the center of the climate justice movement, members of the student organization Earth in Brackets will be sharing their experiences from various venues of organized resistance. This includes attending United Nations climate conferences in Marrakesh, visiting the Oceti Sakowin camp at Standing Rock, and studying the impacts of climate and political change in Maine and how local communities are responding.
This event is open to everyone with free admission. There will be a presentation, discussion and opportunities to continue the conversations.
