SURJ Community Meeting & Info Session
November 18, 2017 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm
Event Navigation
Folks will gather to discuss recent kkk recruitment attempts occurring across Maine & ways to come together as community members to move against white supremacy on the local level. The discussion will be facilitated be a local leader from the Midcoast chapter of Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ).
Background: A group of volunteers recently knocked on doors throughout Appleton to talk with folks about their thoughts & reactions to the uptick in racist harassment and violence in Maine and nationally. We are now bringing people together to discuss neighbor-to-neighbor about what actions we can take individually & collectively to make sure the klan and white supremacist ideas don’t take root & grow in our towns & all across our state.
This event is free & open to folks in Appleton & beyond!
Hot beverages & cookies will be served!
