THINKING BACK & FIGHTING FORWARD: Abortion in Maine & Beyond
November 15 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Maine Family Planning & Grandmothers for Reproductive Rights (GRR!) are teaming up to celebrate & educate about intergenerational perspectives & struggles for abortion rights, with a focus on the crucial work being done by Maine’s largest independent abortion provider to expand rights & access.
A local GRR! member will share reflections from pre & early days of Roe, and how older women are continuing the fight for repro rights today. We’ll hear from Belfast Family Planning Nurse Practitioner, Julie Jenkins, about her role as a plaintiff in a landmark ACLU lawsuit to end Maine’s restrictive “physician-only law”.
We’ll provide an overview of what’s ahead in the fight for abortion rights in Maine & nationally–and how you can support our work!
The event is located in Unitarian Universalist Church sanctuary. The UU Church is located directly behind the Belfast Free Library. We are so grateful for their willingness to host us!
