Women’s Strikes and Women’s Liberation (Portland)
March 8, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
On International Women’s Day exactly 100 years ago, the Russian Revolution started with striking women walking out of their factory jobs and taking the streets.
100 years later, the biggest single day of protest in America’s history happened. But there’s a long tradition of activism leading up to the present moment that we’ve collectively forgot. And some that remain fresh in our memory, like the Icelandic and Polish women’s strikes, which were both incredibly successful.
What will it take to get from the power we have to the power we need?
Join the ISO, the USM Women and Gender Studies, the Queer Straight Alliance, and more as we host a panel discussion on exactly that!
Location: USM Portland Campus, Science Building: Room 165
